Week 21, 2017

Hey folks! This week was kinda a blur for me... with this many shows it can be tough to remember everything that happened, but a ton of awesome music was at Joe's this week, check it out!

5/23/17 - Kerchief // Chilhowee Royal // Chvnce // Gamble Cosmos

Tuesday was a quick show that brought TN rockers Kerchief and Chilhowee Royal down to the pizza basement to deliver their brand of dance-infused rock &/ or roll to the fine folks of Baltimore. Joining the fest was Gamble Cosmos with their David Byrne on a bender stylings, as well as Chvnce who closed the show with some dance-psych grooves.

5/25/17 - Lushfarm // Drone Theory // Painted Mirror // Dulls

Thursday's show was primed for some fuzzy, droned out doom and gloom. Painted Mirror opened the show with some excellent synth-wave followed by Philly's Dulls who threw down some mid-tempo noise jams. Baltimore trio Lushfarm fired threw their set of 90's-infused alt-thrash and Drone Theory closed things, putting on a clinic in layered psych-drone.

5/26/17 - The Stents // Tiger! Tiger! // The Electric Mess

Anytime The Stents play they always bring some killer bands along for the ride. Friday was no different. Joining our friendly neighborhood garage band was FL's Tiger! Tiger! who opened the show with a set leather-clad power-pop, and NY's The Electric Mess who brought the house down with some guitar-powered freakouts that just made you want to jump around. All in all Friday was Stentsational! ...ok, I'll see myself out.

5/27/17 - Queen Wolf // Infinite Pizza // Medium Cheetah // Wishing Rock

Saturday brought a pretty decent crowd out to see an all-local lineup of rock and pizza enthusiasts. Wishing Rock opened with some pretty cool tunes followed by a return performance by Medium Cheetah and their tricky-riffed indie jams. Closing the show was the 1-2 combination of Infinite Pizza and Queen Wolf, who cranked the orange and Ampegs to 11 for a killer onslaught of patch-vested guitar worship.

5/28/17 - Legends of Et cetera // Seesaw Offenders // Gender Work // Hadiya-Ayodele // Matt Ellin

By the time Sunday rolled around I was beat. This lineup of all youngsters featured the electronic dance-loops of Philly's Gender Work, the Velvet Underground-inspired work of Matt Ellin, Hadiya-Ayodele and her excellent political r&b, the Seesaw Offenders' edm sugar rush, and Legends of Et cetera who closed things up with their prodigy prog-pop.

Ok that's it for me. Next week's going to be a big issue so make sure to check back in. Thanks for reading and have a killer week!
