Week 19, 2017

Heyo! Not much time to put this together today but I still wanted to get it up, here's what I saw this week...

5/8/17

Monday night I went to the 5 & Dime with my roommates for the weekly Gypsy jazz jam. Microbrews and dancing were prevalent as the band took turns trading leads and providing an excellent atmosphere for the Django loving patrons.

5/9/17 - Overlake // Rosemary Stretch // Us and Us Only

Tuesday was a great 3 band lineup, the standouts being NJ's Overlake, a power trio that would move from jangly Smith's-like guitar lines into full on sonic madness. I definitely recommend checking them out. Shoutout to locals Rosemary Stretch and Us and Us Only who provided excellent support and made for a chill night Downsquares.

5/10/17 - NOE // Vorrh // The Meer

While Metallica was playing M&T Bank Stadium Wednesday night, my band Vorrh was playing a slightly smaller stage (floor) at The Depot alongside NOE (New Order of Existence) and The Meer. Both bands played excellently - NOE laying down some killer gloom and doom numbers, and the The Meer providing their unique brand of sludgy alternative jams - It was awesome getting to share the stage with these killer performers. I wasn't able to get pictures of our performance, but we did get out name on the back of the beer menu! Another excellent stop on our Wednesday night dive bar tour of Baltimore.

Look! We've made it to the big time!

5/12/17 - The Highballers // Harlan County Kings

Saturday DC's The Highballers stopped by the pizza basement to provide a few rootsy rompers and rockabilly jams for the people of Baltimore followed by the Harlan County Kings who took it home with some guitar wailing good times and The Jeffersons theme song.

5/13/17 - Them Animals // Mountains Like Wax // King Leisure

Sunday's show was Nashville rockers Mountains Like Wax last stop before heading home from a two week tour, and all that time on the road must have one them god because they were fantastic. This indie-hipster 4-piece threw down an excellent set of killer groves and vocal arrangements, and their music was some of the better jams we've had in recent weeks. Them Animals joined the bill with their heavy pentatonic riffatude, and King Leisure and their paradiddle drum insanity.
