Week 8, 2017

Well hi-diddily-ho neighborinos! Another LOUD week on North Avenue as band after band cranked their amps and administered a heavy doseage of music and mayhem to the peaceful folk of Baltimore. We take you now to the heart of the action with our live corespondent, already on the scene...

2/24/17 - Arches // Church Girls // Solitary Set

After a day of heavy yard loafing in this amazing February weather (thanks Global Warming!!), I made my way to Joe’s for another night of loud guitars and pizza smells. Frederick’s Arches kicked things off with a loud set instrumental stoner jams followed by Philadelphia’s Church Girls who then mellowed things out with some fuzzed out indie pop. Locals Solitary Set closed the show with a great set of rockers that sent the pizza basement home on a fuzzy high note.

2/25/17 - Captain Morris // Nuns // Tweens

Saturday brought the return of Captain Morris and his interactive Scenario Show, and I don’t think the crowd could have been happier as fans and friends danced and sang along to song after fantastic song. Captain Morris (Baltimore’s Daniel Neiman) plays a very unique style of electronic music - warping classic styles such as doo-wop and calypso into a new and incredibly strange new sound. It’s awesome. Following the good Captain was the trio Nuns whose loud and angular riffs attacked the crowd like a cat made of razorblades. Last but most certainly not least was Cincinnati’s Tweens , who fired off some super tight garage punk to end the show, and balance was once again restored to the Universe.

Alright folks that’s it for shows this week. Sunday was band practice gearing up for our show at The Crown on 3/22. As usual I’ll have more shows to report back next week, so stay tuned and take care!
