Week 47, 2016 - Week of The Turkey

Guten tag! Turkey day was upon which means that shows were somewhat limited, but I’m still here to report back all the music happenings that took place this week. Don’t see much need for prefacing so let’s get to it!

11/23/16 - Tool Shed // Orchester Prazevica // Ryan Gibson

The night before Thanksgiving is notorious for barhopping, and Joe’s provided a great evening of entertainment for everyone looking to spend some time with (or avoid) their families. We started things off with an excellent set of acoustic music from Ryan Gibson before making way for local favorites and Downsquares all stars Tool Shed, who as always held it down with their unique take of Appalachian traditionals. Closing out the night was the always incredible Orchester Prazevica who once again wowed our pizza eating audience with their killer take on Slovakian gypsy music. Folks went home properly danced and liquored up, ready for whatever holiday shenanigans were in store for them the following day.

11/26/16 - Folk N’ Potluck 3

Didn’t work Friday and for some reason there was no Saturday show at Joe’s, but that worked out for me because the 3rd annual Folk n’ Potluck was happening at the Baltimore Free Farm! Hosted by Okay Recordings, the Folk n’ Potluck is an acoustic showcase of local singer-songwriters who have taken the time to perform for free while also working together to bring food for guests. This year at the Baltimore Free Farm was the best lineup yet and made for an incredible evening of food, drink, and dancing! It was a blast, and thankfully I managed to take a few pics before things got too blurry. Already looking forward to FnP4, one of the year’s best events for sure!

11/27/16

Sunday I had my first professional recording session at my spot in Hampden with songwriter/ guitarist Jimmy Swope and his band. I don’t want to give too much away too soon, but it was awesome to finally start some real tracking at the new space. Anyone interested in recording should hit me up, let's talk about it!

Alright y’all that’s it this week. Thanks again for taking the time, and I’ll be back next week to cover more of the music stuff I’ll be seeing. Later!
