Week 45, 2016 - Fringe After Dark

Hi everybody! (Hi, Dr. Nick!) It’s been quite the week hasn’t it? Regardless of current events, the music didn’t stop for a second here in Baltimore. In fact, thanks to Charm City Fringe, this week featured some of the best music this city has to offer! So enough jib jab, here’s what went down.

11/10/16 - Daveed Korup w/ Lindsey Golden // Dominic Fragman // Orchester Prazevica // Vorrh

Hit up the Windup Space on Thursday to be part of Fringe After Dark presented by Firehouse Arts & Music. Things started off with an excellent performance of percussion, song, and poetry by drumsmith Daveed Korup. Lindsey Golden of The Lindsey Golden Project provided dance accompaniment to the drum gurus thunderous rhythmic passages. We went from one drum master to another as Dominic Fragman took the stage for his “solo-trio” performance in one of the most impressive one person shows there is, psychedelic riff rock that fits conveniently behind a drum set. The great Orchester Prazevica was also on hand to provide the Slovakian gypsy swing while auctioning off their collection of low-milage goats. I took the stage with the help of keyboardist/ songwriter Zinoosh Farbod for a new “ambient-doom" project we’re calling Vorrh. Super big thanks to Daveed Korup who returned to play drums for our set, and to John Suntiger for providing the lighting and visuals!

11/11/16 - Matt Pless // Tonge in Cheek // Orchester Prazevica

The crowds packed Downsquares on Friday for a lively night of jazz, drinks, and dancing. Local songwriter Matt Pless started things off with a set of original songs and quirky stage banter before Tongue in Cheek got the dance floor moving with a more traditional set of Dixieland, blues, and ragtime. Orchester Prazevica, having sold all their goats the previous night, closed things out to the delight of the dancing public who continued to move and shake well into the early hours of the morning.

11/12/16 - Jaguardini // The Funky Bass & Beat Group Known As “F" // The Duc D’Angelos

We go from folk and jazz to funk and jags as Fringe After Dark fired off Saturday Night. Jaguardini provided a solo set of circuit-bended madness and electronic grooves and paved way for The Funky Bass and Beat Group Known As F, who thumped, chunked, and screamed their way through an awesome high energy performance. We wrapped it up with locals The Duc D’Angelos and their smooth atmospheric tech tunes.

11/13/16 - Fringe Closing Party - Fractal Cat // Voodoo Pharmacology

All good things must come to an end, and Sunday at the Mercury Theatre was Fringe Fest’s coup de gras with the one-two combination of Fractal Cat and Voodoo Pharmacology. Both bands sounded excellent under the intense red lights of the theatre, each respectively playing songs from their upcoming albums. Fantastic vocal harmonies, guitar acrobatics, and thoughtful arrangements were prevalent throughout the evening and was truly a great way to close out the festival’s events. Can’t wait for Charm City Fringe’s return next year, undoubtedly bigger and better than ever before! Cheers!

Does anybody read this part? I’ll be back next week and stuff with pictures and words and stuff. It’s over now...
