Week 42, 2016

Sup gang. This week was on the lighter side, but there was definitely some cool things going on around North Ave. Have a look for yourselves!

10/17/16 - Gunson Roses // Matt Frazao // The Yeahtones

A free rock show went down on Monday night that kicked off with the quirky antics of Brad Gunson of Gunson Roses fame. Songs about metal & math, pop numbers about social media, and funk jazz fusion guitar madness that wowed the downstairs audience. Matt Frazao then laid down some instrumental guitar jazz before NY's The Yeahtones closed it out with their awesome take on high energy blues rock.

10/20/16 - Okay Comedy Open Mic

Thursday was a comedy open mic presented by Okay Recordings and hosted by comedian and host of the North Avenue Podcast Archie Jamieson. This is potentially the first of a monthly series of comedy open mics that will occur at Joe Squared, so keep an eye out in the near future and be sure to stop in and check it out!

10/21/16 - Otherworld

Baltimore area jazz quartet Otherworld played on Friday night with a set of heavily improvised material that consistently modulated key and time.

10/22/16 - Tamm E. Hunt

After an afternoon of heavy drinking at a beer festival, I stumbled my way Downsquares for an evening of elegant jazz with Charm City chanteuse Tamm E. Hunt. Ms. Hunt and her trio laid down a wonderful set of smooth jazz to the delight of the modest crowd and were wonderful to work with. I look forward to seeing Ms. Hunt and her band again in the very near future.

That’s it folks. Fringe fest is on it’s way and there’s some awesome stuff around the corner as we head into the holiday season. Laters!
